Tang and Song Dynasty Packet (Blank)

For homework tonight, students are to complete the advocate/judge sheets. Click HERE for a copy of these sheets. If you were absent, complete the advocate form, not the judge one. The debate will be about Footbinding and treatment of women and Civil Service exams and treatment of boys. So basically, you will be arguing which practice had the greatest impact on China. Again, if you were absent, choose a side (Girls & Footbinding OR Boys & Civil Service Exams) and complete the advocate sheet for them.

The readings can be found HERE if you were absent or did not have a chance to finish reading them in class.

Africa Aims

Midterm Info

The midterm for Global Studies 1 will be next Wednesday 1/26. There are no classes next Wed or Thurs, so students only need to come to school if they have an exam.

The midterm packet was given today. We will complete pages 1-6 in class together. Students are required to complete pages 7 - 14 on their own.

Extra help is given Thurs 1/20, Mon 1/24 (Mrs. Kavanagh is in B166, Ms. Hahn is in 128).

Due Wednesday (tomorrow): Your Byzantine Essay must be revised. This is the final version of your essay. We will begin grading them tomorrow.

Due Thursday:Pg. 1 in the Islam packet (Map assignment).

Due Friday: Muslim Achievement Project. The instructions can be found on page 10 of your packet and an example can be found on page 11. This should be a short project, almost like an extended homework assignment. We will use these projects in class on Friday, so they must be completed on time.

Once you have logged into Disc Ed, open the quiz, watch the video clip and answer the questions. The questions are NOT all based on the video, so you should also use your notes, textbook and internet resources to take the quiz.

Important Info: Week of 1/3

Due Thursday: All documents on pages 3 - 6 must be completed by everyone. Advocates must fill in their sheet according to who they are advocating for (did Justinian or Theodora have the greatest influence on the Byzantine Empire?--you were assigned one side). Judges must come up with 5 questions that will help them make their decisions.

Due Friday: Log into Discovery Education (links are to the right side of the blog) and take the practice quiz. There is a three minute video that goes along with the quiz. Make sure to watch it first because the questions are answered in the video.
